Which Of These Running Backs Will Be A League Winner?

  • Elijah Mitchell is projected to start in San Francisco after an injury to Raheem Mostert.
  • Peyton Barber will take over lead back duties in Las Vegas with Josh Jacobs out.
  • The Ravens backfield has swiftly become a minefield with four potential starters.

LAS VEGAS - The NFL has always been a league partially defined by injury and NFL betting fans should stay on top of the latest injury news in the league.

This week, several major matchups could be impacted by injury issues and online gamblers as well as fantasy football players would be wise to take them into account.

Three teams that could be seriously impacted by injuries are the San Francisco 49ers, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Baltimore Ravens.

San Francisco 49ers - Who Is The Starting RB?

Raheem Mostert was a reasonably high draft pick in most fantasy football drafts. He seemed to have a firm handle on the starting job, although he did have a highly qualified backup in Trey Sermon, a rookie out of Ohio State.

Mostert’s injury in the first game of the season was not particularly out of the norm - he’s been injury prone his whole career - but his replacement was.

Instead of Sermon, who wasn’t even active, Mostert was replaced with a different rookie RB, Elijah Mitchell.

Fantasy football players have assumed that Mitchell will continue to be the starter after he racked up 19 carries for more than 100 yards.

However, coach Kyle Shanahan has always been unpredictable with his running back position and guessing right about this situation could be league-winning for many fantasy football leagues.

Las Vegas Raiders - Peyton Barber’s Time To Shine

Peyton Barber will take over starting duties in Las Vegas after an injury to RB Josh Jacobs put him out for Week 2.

Jacobs seemed hobbled in his Week 1 opener against the Baltimore Ravens and it was revealed that he had toe and ankle injuries.

In week 2, many expected Kenyan Drake, a very qualified backup, to take over the main rushing role.

However, it seems as though Drake will remain in a change-of-pace or committee role, with Barber taking over the early down role.

Baltimore Ravens: A Four Back Committee?

The Baltimore Ravens lost starting RB J.K. Dobbins in the preseason and his backup Gus Edwards before their Week 1 game.

This left Ty’Son Williams to pick up the slack and he put on a decent performance against the Las Vegas Raiders.

However, the Ravens have brought in big names to back Williams up, and any of them could be threats to his job.

Le’Veon Bell, Latavius Murray and Devonta Freeman are names fantasy veterans will know and they were good backs at some point in their careers.

If one of them can recapture that spark, Ty’Son Williams might be in serious trouble as a starting back.
