DraftKings Introduces Speed Roulette In New Jersey

  • Speed Roulette is now available on DraftKings’ mobile applications in New Jersey.
  • If Speed Roulette, which features a live dealer does well, it will be introduced in Michigan and Pennsylvania in the months ahead.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Speed Roulette has made its way to the casino scene as one of DraftKings’ live dealer games that can be streamed from the Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City.

Evolution Gaming created the game, which has been played within international markets since 2017.

This is the first time that it’s been brought to the U.S. and DraftKings’ has decided to test out its popularity in New Jersey. Should it do well, it will be brought to the internet casinos of Michigan and Pennsylvania in the future.

What Is Speed Roulette?

Speed Roulette is exactly what it sounds like. It is the game of roulette played at a much faster pace to allow for 150 spins per hour at USA online casinos.

A regular game of roulette spins about 100 times per hour. Each spin takes about 25 seconds, which leads to quicker results and the possibility of much higher revenue for the operators because the game is being played more in the same amount of time for the same amount of money.

“We worked really hard to create a game that feels relaxed while at the same time being blazing fast,” said Todd Haushalter, Evolution’s Chief Product Officer. “This is a tricky balance to achieve, and by giving the game its own dedicated studio, with numerous immersive camera shots, and letting players bet during the spin we have created a game that will appeal to serious and novice players alike.”

The Roulette Roll Out

DraftKings has not yet added Speed Roulette to their desktop casino in New Jersey but it can be played through the Garden State’s mobile platform.

The gaming company was very excited to be able to offer this new style of roulette to its players in NJ but received some opposition over it. After advertising on their Twitter account about the game being introduced, people started speaking on how it’s not helpful for those that have issues with problem gambling.

DraftKings would later take down the ad but Speed Roulette remains on their mobile platform.

It’s only been available for about a week so there is no word yet as to how popular it is with gamblers. That information will factor into whether or not the game will branch out into other states in the nation.

Another issue was seen with cutting the spin time in half which leads to less time for interacting with the dealer.

A big part of roulette and its popularity has been with the back and forth between the player and the dealer. Research has shown that live dealer roulette is played much more by gamblers than that of virtual roulette without a live dealer.

Evolution Gaming has just recently developed a new product called Instant Roulette. It has no live dealer and is much faster than Speed Roulette.

Spins are automated but are continuous, which allows players to jump in at any time to gamble on the game. While this may be featured on US online casino platforms in the future, Speed Roulette still needs to be tested in New Jersey online gambling before they speed things up even more with an instant option.
