Golden Nugget, Tioga Downs Partner For Future Online Gambling In NY

  • Major gambling company Golden Nugget has partnered with the Tioga Downs casino and race track in New York for future access to distribute their online gaming platform.
  • Online gambling and sports betting are not yet legal in New York, but Golden Nugget believes the state to be a $2 billion industry in the near future.

NEW YORK – The state of New York just gained another major online gambling partnership, with the Golden Nugget brand announcing an agreement with the Tioga Downs Race Track.

The deal contains a 20-year partnership that will allow Golden Nugget (GNOG) to distribute their online gaming platform to New York bettors through the Tioga Downs’ gaming license.

Golden Nugget will pay Tioga Downs a cut of its gaming revenue in exchange for the rights to use their license for distribution. Tioga Downs is one of just seven approved tribal casinos in New York, making the partnership a limited and valuable commodity.

So valuable in fact that Golden Nugget believes the online casino market of New York will one day be worth $2 billion in total gross revenue.

“We are very excited to sign this long-term partnership with Jeff Gural and Tioga Downs. New York is key to our growth strategy and we look forward to the state embracing online gaming,” said Thomas Winter, President of Golden Nugget. “We will remain focused on securing new market access partners in more US states. With its iconic brand, superior product, and award-winning operations, GNOG is uniquely positioned to take advantage of the exponential growth of online gaming in the US.”

The only problem standing in the way of Golden Nugget now is the fact that online gaming and sports betting is not yet legal at the state level. While New York does have physical casinos and sportsbooks, they are not yet approved for online platforms.

This is likely to change, however, with the recent success of states like New Jersey creating pressure on lawmakers in the Empire State.

Golden Nugget will now be in nine different states, with New York joining New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Mississippi, Louisiana, and West Virginia as states that host the company.

Golden Nugget will likely provide their top-notch USA online gambling site to New Yorkers after the next round of voting in the state, with a projected launch by 2022.
