ROZVADOV, Czech Republic - Josef Gulas Jr. has won the World Series Of Poker Europe Main Event, beating out 688 other players.

Gulas Jr. will take home almost $1.5 million after his accomplishment, an accomplishment he considered an amazing one.

"It's an incredible feeling. I am truly thankful and happy," said Gulas after his win. "It was a perfect tournament with a very nice structure in the best casino in Europe. Just incredible!"

Gulas is now the 8th player from the Czech Republic to win a gold bracelet on the WSOP, and it’s worth noting that four of those victories, including Gulas’, have come in the Czech Republic.

Gulas praised the atmosphere at the final table, which was livestreamed for online gambling fans across the world to see.

"It is something incredible, I would wish it to everyone,” he said. “Everyone should participate and play in such circumstances, to feel the atmosphere and the feel of the final table."

Gulas took home the lion’s share of the prize, with €1,276,712 to his name, while runner-up Johan Guilbert - a famous online poker content creator - claimed a bit more than half of that, at €789,031.

Alexander Tkatschew of Germany took home the €558,505 third place prize, while Greece’s Athanasios Kidas claimed €401,344 for himself.

The Final Hand

The final hand saw Gulas up big over Guilbert, and he shoved immediately, forcing Guilbert to match him or slowly bleed out.

Gulas began the heads up against Guilbert with a hand of the eight of spades and the ace of diamonds, while Guilbert, down big at this point, went all-in with a pair of twos.

The flop changed nothing for either player, and the turn didn’t change anything either, but the final card revealed on the river was the eight of hearts, allowing Gulas to claim the victory with a pair of eights over a pair of twos.

Congratulations to Josef Gulas Jr., the World Series Of Poker Europe Main Event Winner!
