Pennsylvania Gaming Sees 33% Year-On-Year Increase From 2020

  • Overall October revenue generated $426 million from gambling in Pennsylvania

HARRISBURG, Penn. – The Pennsylvania gaming industry just had a record-breaking month in October, after casinos and fantasy contests generated $426 million.

Overall October Gaming Revenue

The impressive $426 million made from gambling in October 2021, shows a 33% increase from the revenue generated in October 2020.

The casinos did well for themselves, bringing in a solid amount of revenue for their respective establishments.

Casino Revenue:

  • Parx Casino: $57.3 million
  • Rivers Casino Philadelphia: $46.2 million.
  • Valley Forge Casino: $42.8 million.
  • Wind Creek: $46.2 million.
  • Live! Casino Philadelphia: $18.7 million.
  • Harrah’s Philadelphia: $19.3 million.

Online gaming also performed well, generating $40.6 million on its own, with slots and table games making $15.1 and $2.4 million.

Third State To Handle $10 Billion

Thanks to reportedly handling over $776.2 million in sports wagers in October, Pennsylvania is now the third state in the country to cross the $10 billion total handle threshold – a feat previously only done by New Jersey and Nevada.

The $776.2 million October handle is a 26.1% increase from their previous highest monthly handle of $615.2 million in January 2021.

It’s also a 34% increase from the preceding month of September, where sportsbooks handled $578.7 million.

October Revenue Comparisons

While October was a profitable month for Pennsylvania gambling, it wasn’t their most profitable yet.

Sportsbooks generated $42.2 million in October revenue, which is a -12.1% decrease from the preceding $48.1 million generated in September. It’s also a -14.2% decrease from the $49.3 million generated in January of this year.
