LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Forte is the favorite to win the 2023 Kentucky Derby at +325 odds after winning the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) and the Florida Derby (G1) in his two starts this year. Forte has been dominant since 2022, winning six consecutive races thanks to his incredible jockey Irad Ortiz Jr.
Ortiz Jr. has been the best jockey in horse racing this year, proving so by becoming the first jockey in Gulfstream history to win seven consecutive races there.
The consistent success of Ortiz Jr. and Forte has caught the eye of oddsmakers, greatly shortening Forte’s odds that stood at +900 on online gambling sites back in March.
Betting Outside of Favorite Forte
Another notable line mover is Tapit Trice, who now holds the second-best odds at +600 despite being +1400 over a month ago. Defending Championship Meet titlist Luis Saez and Tapit Trice hold a 3-0 record in races this year.
