LAS VEGAS - PokerStars’ 20th anniversary is this month, and that means that they’ll be hosting several poker tournaments in honor of the occasion. The Big 20 Rewind Series starts on Sunday and features 22 different events, each themed after an event that happened in the 20 years of PokerStars’ lifetime.
Online gambling fans can take advantage of all sorts of online poker opportunities in the various events offered by PokerStars during this promotion.
For example, 2003’s tournament is Year of Moneymaker, named after the famous Chris Moneymaker, and has an $86 buy-in with a $125,000 guarantee in prizing, referencing Moneymaker’s famous run from a PokerStars satellite qualifier to winning the WSOP main event.
So, why is it The Big 20 if there are 22 events? That’s because there are three events themed after 2009, each with different buy-ins.
2009: Year Of SCOOP, references the famous Spring Championship of Online Poker, and features three tournaments, an homage to the three-tiered system that SCOOP employed.
One has a $109 buy-in with a $300,000 prize pool, the next has a $1,050 buy-in with a $700,000 prize pool, and the final one has a $10,300 buy-in with a $750,000 prize pool.
The whole event takes place over 20 days and focuses on 20 years. Only 2009’s day features multiple tournaments on the same day.
The Big 20 Finale
The whole series leads up to the Big 20 Finale, which has a remarkably low buy-in of $55 and a high guaranteed prize pool of $5,000,000.
That tournament kicks off on Dec. 5, after the 20 day Rewind is completed, and will last three days, concluding on Dec. 7.
Of interest to many online poker players will be 2017 and 2018’s featured tournaments, which have buy-ins of $11 and $5 respectively, and take place on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2.
Additionally, there is one free tournament throughout the Big 20 - 2007: The Year of EPTLive. This tournament has a guarantee of $20,000, and costs nothing to enter. It takes place on Nov. 22.
The PokerStars Big 20 Rewind starts on Sunday and will run through Dec. 4, with the Big 20 Finale starting on Dec. 5 and running through Dec. 7.
