The Tennessee Titans Record Could Benefit From Facing Rookie QBs

  • The Tennessee Titans could have four games against rookie quarterbacks in the 2021 season.
  • Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson and Trey Lance’s teams are all on the schedule.
  • The Titans’ win total is set at 9.5 with the Over having a -135 betting line.

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Titans are one of the top contenders in the AFC and a team that could benefit from the possibility of having four or more games against rookie quarterbacks. NFL bettors could use this to justify backing the Over in Tennessee’s futures odds.

The Potential Rookie QBs On The Schedule

Each time a rookie quarterback is selected, especially in the first round, they’re thought to be the future of the franchise. However, the keyword there is future. It usually takes some time for the young QBs to get the hang of things.

Trevor Lawrence – Jaguars – No. 1 Overall Pick

As a part of the same division, the Tennessee Titans should see Trevor Lawrence on two separate occasions this season. Online gambling sites don’t have individual odds available for the games, but the Titans are -140 to sweep the Jags, while a tied series comes with +125 odds.

The Titans have been very good against No. 1 overall picks in their careers.

Entering the 2020 season, Tennessee was 9-3 against former No. 1 overall picks. They did however lose to Joe Burrow and Baker Mayfield, but also beat Matt Stafford which now makes the team 10-5 against players selected No. 1 overall.

Note: The Titans also play former No. 1 picks Kyler Murray, Matthew Stafford, and potentially Cam Newton and Jameis Winston in 2021.

Zach Wilson – Jets – No. 2 Overall Pick

Zach Wilson appears on the schedule in Week 4 as the Titans will travel to New York.

The New York Jets, even with Wilson, aren’t expected to see much success on the season so, in theory, this should be an easy win for Tennessee. Odds aren’t available for the game at this point but expect to see online sportsbooks heavily favor the Titans.

Trey Lance – 49ers – No. 3 Overall Pick

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback situation is cloudy as it’s unconfirmed whether Jimmy Garoppolo or Trey Lance is the guy for this season and especially because the Titans meet the 49ers in Week 16, it’s incredibly tough to predict who will be the opposing QB.

Considering NFL betting sites have Lance as the +600 third-option for the Rookie of the Year, it’s safe to assume Lance will be the starter by that point in the season.

This will likely make for the toughest challenge among the rookie QBs as the 49ers roster is one of the best in the NFL.

How To Use This For Betting Purposes

The easiest way to transfer this knowledge to betting value is to use it on futures. Tennessee’s win total is set at a very obtainable number by itself, but add in the fact that there are up to four games against rookie quarterbacks, and it becomes even easier to reach.

  • Over 9.5 -135
  • Under 9.5 +105

While it has a bit less value attached to it, bettors could also use this to assume the Titans will make the playoffs. Although, if anyone were to choose between the two options, betting on the win total may be easier to hit and has better NFL odds.
