Corniche (+1100) – The Favorite
With the 2022 Kentucky Derby still months away, it seems as if Corniche is the rightful betting favorite. Betting this far in advance, the most important thing for online gambling sites to determine is what horses will even enter the race. Corniche is probably the biggest guarantee thus far.
Corniche, trained by Bob Baffert, has an undefeated 3-0 record in his career and has won two G1 races in the American Pharoah Stakes and the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, the latter of the two being the more impressive. Having already won twice at 1 1/16 mile is a good sign for the young horse who should only get better in the coming months. If the race were to take place tomorrow, Corniche would surely be the betting favorite.
Jack Christopher (+1400) – Short Odds To Bet Against
Jack Christopher being +1400 is great for bettors as he is driving up the price of the other horses. He’s run just two races with only one being worth noting, the Champagne Stakes. However, even that was only a six-horse field at just a mile.
Sure, he looked good, but has not done enough to deserve the second-shortest odds in the field. Those betting on the horse racing should stay away from Jack Christopher, at least until he shows a little bit more. In the meantime, use his short odds to find value in other listed horses.
Pappacap (+3300) – A Longshot Worth Betting
Pappacap has already run five times in his career, winning twice and coming in second twice as well. However, in both races that he finished second, Corniche was the horse to win. Although Corniche has proven to be the better horse, anything can happen in the large Kentucky Derby field and Pappacap has shown the ability to at least be in contention at the longer distances.
Getting +3300 odds on a horse that’s only been losing to what’s thought to be the best horse in the field is a steal, regardless of it ends up being a winner or not. The 2022 Kentucky Derby isn’t scheduled until May 7, 2022, but the value is out there for bettors to take advantage of now.
