DETROIT – Online sports betting company BetMGM has a new brand ambassador after they announced the signing of NBA legend Kevin Garnett on Thursday.

BetMGM has tapped Garnett, a fifteen-time NBA all-star who retired following the 2016 season, to be featured in BetMGM’s upcoming promotional materials, marketing campaigns, social media content, and fan engagement events.

Garnett played 21 NBA seasons, winning the 2006 MVP Award and Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2008 – he won an NBA Championship ring with the Boston Celtics in 2008 as well.

This is far from Garnett’s first foray into the sports betting world, however. Since retiring from the NBA, Garnett has turned his attention towards the business world, recently co-founding a company called Gaming Society, a platform for gambling and sports betting content that highlights athletes’ points of view.

Even before then, Garnett made his first appearance on the big screen in Uncut Gems, co-starring alongside Adam Sandler in the 2019 film that heavily featured sports betting as a plot point.

“I’m thrilled to be working with BetMGM to share their insights with my fans,” said Garnett. “It’s a natural fit for both myself and BetMGM given our mutual desire to stay on top of the ever-changing sports business landscape.”

BetMGM is quite happy about their new ambassador as well. Matt Prevost, Chief Revenue Officer of BetMGM, said: “Kevin Garnett brings a unique energy to everything he does, on and off the court. As the basketball season tips off, we look forward to welcoming Kevin to the BetMGM family and working with him on a variety of fan-focused promotions.”

Outside of Garnett’s new partnership with BetMGM, Showtime will be premiering a documentary about Garnett titled “Anything Is Possible” on Friday, November 12.
