Late NFL Lines: How Lines Have Moved Since Opening

  • The Baltimore Ravens line has moved from -10.0 to -6.0 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
  • The Arizona Cardinals have gone from 10.5-point favorites to 18.0-point favorites against the Houston Texans.
  • The Los Angeles Rams opened at -12.0 but have since moved to -16.0 against the Detroit Lions.

BALTIMORE - A handful of NFL teams have seen their betting line shorten since the opening odds were released. The question remains as to if the line still has betting value before kick-off.

Baltimore Ravens Vs. Cincinnati Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens opened up as a 10.0-point betting favorite on online gambling sites over the Cincinnati Bengals. However, as the week has gone on, the line has moved significantly in the Bengals’ direction.

Ravens vs Bengals Spread Odds

  • Baltimore Ravens -6.0 -115
  • Cincinnati Bengals +6.0 -105

The line movement is a little surprising due to Baltimore seeing 80% of the money and 68% of the bets on the spread, but reverse line movement isn’t unheard of in the NFL. This happened just a few weeks ago when the Broncos played the Steelers.

Pittsburgh was receiving a lot of the money and bets but the line swayed in favor of Denver. If that is to be the case again, Baltimore may be the bet to make in this spot as Pittsburgh went on to win and cover against Denver.

The game will start at 1 p.m. EST and can be seen on CBS.

Arizona Cardinals Vs. Houston Texans

While the Ravens were two-possession favorites that became one-possession favorites, the Arizona Cardinals started as even bigger favorites and still went in the other direction in their game against the Houston Texans.

Cardinals vs Texans Spread Odds

  • Arizona Cardinals -18.0 -110
  • Houston Texans +18.0 -110

NFL betting sites opened the line in favor of Arizona by 10.5 points. After a 7.5-point swing in their direction, the undefeated Cardinals will need to cover three possessions. This season there has been just one game with a spread larger than 13.5 points and it was the Bills who ended up beating this same Texans team 40-0.

Sportsbooks have already proven that labeling Houston as a large underdogs is something they’re comfortable doing, but they may even need to start making them bigger underdogs.

CBS will have coverage of the game starting at 4:25 p.m. EST.

Los Angeles Rams Vs. Detroit Lions

The Los Angeles Rams will be the third-largest favorite of the season over the Detroit Lions, but not even the biggest favorites of the week. Sports betting sites opened this game with the largest spread and even moved it further in the favorite’s direction.

Rams vs Lions Spread Odds

  • Los Angeles Rams -16.0 -110
  • Detroit Lions +16.0 -110

Los Angeles began as 12.0-point favorites and are now up to -16.0. The Lions are the only winless team in the NFL and will not have to face a thriving 5-1 Rams team. The large spread shouldn’t be much of a surprise as Detroit has the third-worst point differential (-63) while Los Angeles has the fourth-best (+52).

Kick-off is set for 4:05 p.m. EST and will air on FOX.
