HOUSTON – Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale may win the largest payout in US sports betting history if the Houston Astros win the MLB World Series.
Mattress Mack wagered $3.3 million in total on Houston to win with the largest bet going to Caesars Entertainment’s William Hill Sportsbook in Indiana. This would pay out almost $36 million if it is cashed.
McIngvale is well known for gambling and placing heavy action on Texas teams and has famously lost $13 million betting on the Astros in 2019. He is hoping for a different result with this wager.

Since there is no regulated sports gambling in Texas, McIngvale had to place the wager in Indiana. The Caesars run sportsbook was happy to be home to the potentially historical event.
“This is a potentially historic bet, and it’s one that we love to take,” said Eric Hession, Co-President of Sports for Caesars Entertainment. “We pride ourselves on our flexible limits in our sportsbooks and sports betting apps. This wager certainly makes baseball season a little more exciting for us, and we’re looking forward to seeing how that plays out.”
Caesars saw $2 million of the total wager being placed at its sportsbook. McIngvale is fond of the William Hill Sportsbook in Indiana which is why the largest wager went there.
“It’s very cool that William Hill took that large of a futures bet,” said McIngvale. “Kudos to William Hill for stepping up and taking that big bet. I’ve done a lot of bets with William Hill, and they’ve always been great to me. The execution has always been great.”

The Astros will be facing the Atlanta Braves who have been upsetting every team they’ve faced during this playoff run. The Braves are +117 underdogs to beat the Astros in 7 at MLB sportsbooks.

The Astros have been dominant during their playoff run with no series going to a Game 7. The Braves have also been winning at the same rate. Atlanta is one of the highest-scoring teams in the league this season.
While the Astros are the favorite, Mattress Mack could very well end up losing big during the World Series as he has in the past.
