Should Duke Basketball Odds To Win ACC Be Longer?

  • Duke is the only ranked team from the ACC.
  • Duke has -125 odds to win the ACC Championship.

DURHAM, N.C. – The college basketball season is in full swing and the Duke Blue Devils has asserted themselves as one of the top contenders for not just the National Championship but also to walk away with the ACC Championship.

From when the odds opened to where they are now, online gambling sites have kept Duke with the shortest odds to win the ACC Championship.

ACC Championship – Odds To Win

  • Duke (#2) -125
  • North Carolina +650
  • Florida State +900
  • Louisville +900
  • Virginia Tech +1200
  • Virginia +1400

To open the season, Duke had +240 CBB odds to win the ACC championship and has since shifted way down to -125 odds. This comes as they have not only been ranked inside of the top-10 the entire season, but they are also the only ACC team that is ranked inside of the top-25 as well.

Duke also has one of the top players in the country on their side in Paolo Banchero. Banchero went into Duke as the number one ranked forward in his class and the number two overall player. He is currently the sixth-highest scorer in the ACC with 17.1 ppg and the eighth-best rebounder as well with 7.3 rpg.

The Blue Devil’s also have the best coach in the ACC in Mike Krzyzewski who is in his final season. Coach K has led Duke to 15 ACC titles since 1986 including two of the last four.

The Competition

It is safe to say that the ACC is not the conference that many thought they were going to be this season. The preseason polls had three other teams ranked inside of the top-25 including the North Carolina Tar Heels, Florida State Seminoles, and Virginia Cavaliers. Each of them also opened with under +700 odds to win the conference.

Fast track to now, none of them are ranked or even receiving votes to be ranked. The Tar Heels are 10-3 this season with all three losses coming against top-25 opponents. The Seminoles have gone 7-4 thus far but have been hit hard by COVID-19 having three games either postponed or called off. Virginia started a strong 5-2 to start the season and has since gone 3-3.

These three teams remain behind Duke on the odds board, however, North Carolina is now the only team with odds under +700.

Duke has shown no signs of slowing down whatsoever and has taken down some big names already this season. With conference play just beginning, if they continue their dominance, they could walk right into an ACC title.
