World Poker Tour Online World Championship Dates Released

  • The World Poker Tour scheduled the Online Championships to be from July 1st to August 9th and will feature 15 championship events.
  • The WPT World Championship Main Event will have a $10,300-dollar entry fee which could make the prize pool the biggest WPT Online history.

LAS VEGAS – The World Poker Tour (WPT) and partypoker announced that a WPT Main Tour event will take place from July 1 to August 19.

Featuring a main event with a $10,300-dollar entry fee, the World Poker Tour has the potential for a historic prize pool.

The full schedule for the tournament will be released soon and all eyes will be on the 15 Championship Events.

The winner of the WPT World Online Championship will claim a seat at the Season XVIII WPT Tournament of Champions. This WPT Online Championship will be one of the biggest USA online poker tournaments ever held.

“Players have asked us to do something special, and the $10,300 WPT World Online Championships is the perfect way to meet the demand of the summer poker season,” said John Duthie, President of partypoker LIVE in a press release.

Since brick-and-mortar casinos in some countries have already opened back up, that shouldn’t deter a record number of players entering this tournament as online poker sites have flourished amid the coronavirus pandemic.

However, the World Series of Poker Online will be hosting its online tournament at GGPoker.

The World Series of Poker’s online tournament will be starting alongside the WPT’s tournament, but the World Series of Poker’s events won’t end until September 6.

This could cause some players to pick between the two tournaments, but for those in the United States, only players in New Jersey and Nevada can participate in the World Series of Poker tournament - the biggest differentiator between the two tournaments.

“The World Poker Tour and partypoker continue to push the boundaries of poker forward and the WPT World Online Championships is the latest venture in our wonderful partnership,” said Hermance Blum, VP WPT Europe.

With two major USA online gambling tournaments to choose from at the start of July, it will be a busy month for poker players that could potentially see some of the biggest prize pools in the history of the game.

This WPT Online World Championships will be the first WPT event since Asher Conniff won the $15,000 tournament at Bogota bringing home $973,683.
