Betting Odds For The Jaguars Vs. Texans Week 1 NFL Matchup

  • The Jacksonville Jaguars are favored by three points against the Houston Texans in Week 1 of the 2021-2022 NFL season.
  • The only other game on the NFL schedule where Houston are the underdogs by a field goal or less is in Week 12 against the New York Jets.

HOUSTON – With the season's betting lines available for every game of the NFL season, one of the Houston Texans’ best chances to win a game is in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Houston’s Only Chance To Win?

Sure, the Houston Texans have their fair share of problems, but is there really a better chance for them to get a win than against a rookie quarterback and first-time NFL head coach, both competing in their first professional game? Even with the game being at home, online gambling sites are not favoring the Texans against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Texans Vs. Jaguars Spread Odds

  • Houston Texans +3 -115
  • Jacksonville Jaguars -3 -105

Urban Meyer is one of the greatest college coaches of all time and Trevor Lawrence is thought to be one of the best QB prospects in recent memory but to put them on the road in their first professional game and list them as a favorite speaks volumes as to how bad the Texans are.

If Houston can’t win in Week 1, the only other time the team has a better chance is in Week 12 against the New York Jets. However, Zach Wilson could very well be a  developed force to be reckoned with by that point in the season. As the +400 favorite to have the worst record in the NFL, it’s not all that surprising to find NFL betting sites listing Houston as underdogs in all 17 games.

Could Houston Possibly Win?

The Texans currently have Tyrod Tylor as their starting quarterback and do not necessarily have a premier player at any position on either side of the ball. The Jaguars, on paper, are not too much better, but at least there’s promise and potential on their roster.

Jaguars Vs. Texans Moneyline Odds

  • Jacksonville Jaguars -150
  • Houston Texans +130

Sports betting sites give the Texans a decent shot to win, although it’s possible that Week 1 may be an indicator for the rest of their season more than anything else.

The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. EST kick-off on September 12 and will be broadcast locally on the CBS network.
