SAN ANTONIO – The NBA regular season is in full swing and the San Antonio Spurs will host the Charlotte Hornets at home in their first game and are going in as a 1-point favorite. While this game is expected to be a shootout between two rebuilding teams, there are several prop odds to take advantage of that aren’t just the normal game lines.

Scary Terry Coming Out to Play

Terry Rozier Point Total

  • Over 23.5 -110
  • Under 23.5 -120

One of the more valuable player props to take note of on online gambling sites for this matchup is the point total for Terry Rozier. Rozier is being set up nice early in the season as LaMelo Ball is nursing an ankle injury to start the season and Miles Bridges is dealing with legal matters off the court and is out indefinitely. Both of which were the team’s top scorers last season. Rozier though was not far behind them as the team’s third highest scorer.

Now with both out, he will be the main source of offense on a team that was the fourth-highest scoring in the league last season. Rozier has also done fairly well when not having to share the court with Ball or Bridges. When Ball was out last season, Rozier averaged 18.3 ppg and when Bridges was out, he went for 22 ppg. Also, while Rozier did not play the season opener last season, in the season opener the year prior, he exploded for 42 points.

Hornets Alternate Line Offering Great Value

Hornets Alternate Spread

  • Hornets -3 +120

While NBA oddsmakers have the Spurs favored on the gameline here, there is some tremendous value to be made on the Hornets alternate line. First off, they are going into the game against a Spurs defense that let up 113 ppg to opponent’s last season. As mentioned before, the Hornets had the fourth highest scoring team in the league last year as well at 115.3 ppg. With a +2.3-point differential between the Hornets offense and Spurs defense from a year ago, it is certainly worth the gamble for plus money on this one.

Spurs Feeding into A Shootout

Spurs Team Total Points

  • Over 112.5 +100
  • Under 112.5 -130

This matchup is expected to be a shootout 100% with not only the Spurs defense ranked in the bottom seven from last season, but the Hornets as well. Historically in season openers as well, the Hornets have let their opponents go over 112.5 points in their last four. San Antonio themselves have also thriven in their last three season openers going over 112.5 in those three games.

Backing them going over, even more, is the 222-point total that is set, it goes to show that oddsmakers are also expecting a high-scoring affair in this one.
