  • China has never sent a manned mission to the moon.

WASHINGTON D.C. – Talks about a mission to the moon have been heating up in recent years, specifically between the United States and China. With that said, oddsmakers have jumped to action offering odds on which of the two countries will make a manned lunar mission first.

As for where the odds sit right now, online gambling sites are heavily in favor of the U.S. completing a manned mission first before China and for several reasons.

Which Country Will Walk On The Moon Next?

  • United States -700
  • China +400

Looking back, the United States is the only country to have made manned moon missions with six of them already. The last time the United States sent astronauts to the moon came way back in 1972 though on the Apollo 17 mission.

China, while they haven’t sent a crew to the moon just yet, has sent unmanned rovers to the moon to collect lunar samples with their most recent one coming back in 2019.

Future Moon Missions

There have been plenty of rumors and reports regarding moon landings from both the United States and China. On the U.S. side, the next manned moon mission would be Artemis 3 in which it will send the next man and first woman to the moon and that is currently scheduled for 2025. Online sportsbooks are currently offering +600 odds on the Artemis Mission 3 landing a crew on the moon in or before 2025.

China, on the other hand, has reported three lunar missions over the course of the next ten years, however, none of them have been reported to be manned missions. The only rumored manned mission to the moon from China isn’t even set until 2030.

That being said, it isn’t hard to see why oddsmakers are heavily in favor of the U.S. landing on the moon first and their odds should be strongly considered.
